Beach Baby Benidorm! Fun for Everyone on the Beach!

Benidorm, on Spain’s famous and much-loved Costa Blanca, needs very little introduction. It’s that rare kind of holiday destination that really does appeal to every demographic. From young families and retirees to party-loving teenagers and twenty-somethings, it seems that everybody loves Benidorm! It’s not hard to guess the one thing that bonds everyone together on common ground is the beautiful beaches. And because there’s more than one, and each has its own distinct personality, we’re here to tell you the biggest cliche in travel speak is true: there really is something for everyone!

Benidorm’s Beautiful Beaches

There’s certainly no shortage of stunning beaches and coves in Benidorm and the wider Costa Blanca. One of the most appealing things is how diverse the choices are, and whether you’re looking for some classic fun in the sun with the family, to try some water sports with your mates, or sneak away to a deserted cove for some relaxing alone time, Benidorm has you covered.

Here are some of the beaches that will inspire you at any age.

For the Little Ones

This really is a picture-perfect resort for kids. Not only are the waters calm and the beaches wide and sandy, the main family-friendly beaches are extremely well facilitated — making life very easy for parents too! The two main beaches are Levante and Poniente, and both of them offer plenty of  room for kids to run around on the sand but stay within easy eyesight. You can also hire bikes (even for the littlies) and ride along the promenades.

At Levante, the water is quite shallow for a fair way out, so for very young children it’s a great place to do some paddling. Slightly older children can swim safely while still staying under supervision. There are also several dedicated children’s play areas along the two-kilometre length of the beach.

Poniente is longer, at three glorious kilometres, but it’s also a bit quieter. Here there are several children’s playgrounds, some floating pontoons, games areas (where children can join in beach ball games) and, again, plenty of open sandy spaces to run.

For the Party Loving Twenty-somethings

There’s no doubt Benidorm knows how to party, and that extends to the beaches! While not beach clubs, as such, Levante Beach is lined with bars along the promenade, and when the sun goes down the big kids come out to play and the fun spills out onto the sand.

You can party at places like Tiki Beach, KU Lounge Club, KM Playa, and Penelope Club – which is renowned for its pool parties. There are countless more bars and cocktail lounges along the promenade of both Levante and Poniente beaches, and the atmosphere after dark is vibrant, lively, and somewhat hedonistic — but then, that’s exactly why many people come here.

Even if you’re nursing a hangover (or maybe especially if you are!), there’s plenty to keep you entertained the morning after the night before on the two main beaches, as well. Blow the cobwebs away with some adrenaline sports like windsurfing, parasailing, jet skiing, water skiing and flyboarding, or if you’re not quite up to that, try some of the less energetic options like paddle boarding or banana boat rides.

A Little Peace and Tranquility

Showcasing the quieter, more laidback side of Benidorm means getting slightly away from the main beaches. But not much more than a stones’ throw from the city are some beaches that feel a million miles from anywhere.

Mal Pas is a small cove situated between Levante and Poniente beaches, and its location directly in front of the charming Old Town adds to the authentic Spanish ambience. Benidorm Island, which you can see from the beach, is a protected marine reserve, popular with divers. Mal Pas is a great place to get away for a bit of a quiet stroll or a dip and there are even times you may have it to yourself.

A short drive north of the city, Tio Ximo Cove is embraced by dramatic cliffs and is a fantastic place to go for some amateur snorkelling or diving practice to explore the rocky seabed. The waters are crystal clear and the spectacle of the sheer cliffs rising up from the turquoise ocean is spectacular. Even if you’re not into snorkelling or diving, the 60m cove is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy some sunbathing. It’s not exactly deserted (in fact there are a few sunbeds for hire), but it certainly offers respite from the busy summer crowds.

There are so many reasons this fun-filled Spanish resort city is such a favourite with every demographic, but the beauty of its beaches are definitely one of the main drawcards. There are plenty more to be discovered up and down the Costa Blanca, but even if you never leave Benidorm itself, you’ll have plenty to keep you occupied!
