Master of the Skies: Tips for a Comfortable Flight

Master of the Skies: Tips for a Comfortable Flight

Are you a frequent flier who often suffers from jetlag or discomfort? You may think this fate can’t be avoided, but there are plenty of ways to reduce the negative effects of long flights and help yourself feel much more refreshed once you land. These tips are from this useful infographic – take a look for yourself.

Monitor Your Food and Drink

Food and drink play an important role in keeping you healthy – that’s certainly a given – but while you’re travelling you may find yourself tempted by unhealthy choices. Here are a few things to keep in mind that’ll help you avoid feeling groggy on the plane.

  • Eat a proper meal before boarding and you will digest your food quicker and more effectively. It’s advised to only snack while you’re on the plane.
  • Choose carb-rich foods and protein-filled snacks to help you feel full for longer and keep your body working at its best.
  • Stay hydrated with either water or green tea – this will make a huge difference to your wellbeing during the flight and will definitely keep jetlag at bay.
  • Avoid coffee and don’t drink too much alcohol! You will feel groggy and dehydrated if you indulge in caffeinated drinks.

Keep Comfort in Mind

Keeping comfort in mind is one thing that’s guaranteed to help you fly better. Wear loose, comfortable clothes and pack a neck pillow to help you sleep. It’s also worth bringing several layers with you or even a blanket. Long flights can have passengers feeling a whole range of different temperatures, so it’s worth being prepared for every eventuality.

Fly Savvy

For ultimate comfort, choose the best seats when booking your flight. It’s been said that seats near the wings experience less turbulence as they are closer to the plane’s centre of gravity, so sit there if you think you’ll need to sleep during your journey. You may also benefit from choosing a window seat – this way you won’t be disturbed by passengers needing to use the toilet or passing snack carts.

If you use these tips on your next aeroplane adventure, you’ll be feeling right as rain once you land. Eat and drink well, stay comfortable and choose the best seats in the house for a chilled-out flight and jetlag-free holiday.
