The lovely resort of Cala Ratjada is located on a small rocky peninsula on the north east side of Mallorca in Spain. It was originally a small fishing port and whilst the pretty old harbour does still exist it is now the home of luxury yachts as well as small fishing vessels. Cala Ratjada actually translates as Bay of Rays because of the numerous picturesque coves of golden sand and the warm sunny climate which characterize the village. You wont find the large expanses of crowded beach which are typical of other destinations on the island, as sun worshippers who holiday here come for the pretty nooks and secret bays which you can explore for miles or until you find your own private little heaven. Indeed, this region has been recognised as an area of exceptional natural beauty and ecological significance, and parts of it have been awarded nature reserve and bird sanctuary status. This means that much of the rocky coastline and surrounding countryside is still relatively unspoilt, and the beaches are still framed by pine forests where in other areas they have been torn down to make way for development. With airport taxis and airport shuttles from Palma Majorca Airport only 78 kilometres, this is the ideal choice for a short or long break!
We were booked with Shuttle Direct in the summer, however there was so many places I wanted to comment on, but never really had time since we came back from our holiday to Mallorca. Firstly, I was woried, because I saw mixed reviews in the internet. But we booked only couple of days ahead of our trip, so we did not have much choice. To be honest every company that offered trnsport from the airport had a good and bad reviews. The main problem was that every company had this review sying that there was no driver at the airport when flyight was late. Cut story short: We were after around 9hrs trip to the airport already when we found out that our flyight was delayed for over 2hours. We were tired and we were panicking, that we won't be abble to get from the airport to our place in Cala Ratjada in the middle of the night. I couldnt get throught on the phone number that we had on our ticket. I find Shuttle Direct on facebook, so I send the message, and someone quite quickly came back to me, saying nothing to worry about, we will get to the place and gentelman explained me where to go etc. However when we landed in Palma, we got to the desk, I guess it was sub-contractor called Trans Union or something like that. Very popular on the island. Gentelman on the desk already knew we would be late and there was no trouble at all. Quick service at the desk and we could go straight to our bus. Unfortunatelly we had to wait almost an hour for bus to leave, and then we were going throught every single town, stopping at every hotel. But bus had an air con and wi-fi so it was not as bad as it could be. We were glad that we werent stranded at the airport at night, after such a long journey. I am happy we booked throught Shuttle Direct, and I can recommend it to everyone. My good advice is not to book your hotel too far away as it takes time if you are going to the other side of the island. But my recommendation to Shuttle Direct is please improve your phone line. We had this out of hours phone number on the ticket, but we tried to call it so many times and nobody answered. But on the other side, big thank you to gentelman tha spoke to me over facebook :) Thank you again.
We booked only couple days ahead of our trip. Every other place was so expensive, but Shuttle Direct was very cheap. Definitelly worth the price.
