Top 5 Most Romantic Things to Do in Seville

With its summery climate, sensuous music and dance, and collision of Spanish and Moorish cultures, the city of Seville positively sizzles. This Andalusian backdrop is the perfect setting for a romantic weekend escape from the English drizzle. So book some plane tickets, toss some clothes into a case, take your sweetheart by the hand, and prepare for a dreamy Sevillian retreat.

What to Do

Take a Carriage Ride

Traditional Horse and Cart at Cordoba Spain - travel background

Get the most out of your weekend getaway with a horse-drawn carriage tour of the city. Not only is this much more time efficient than walking all over town, it’s also a great way to woo your sweetheart in a classic setting! As you clip-clop through the streets, your driver guide will point out interesting sights and landmarks such as the Teatro Lope de Vega and the ornate Hotel Alfonso XIII.

Horse-drawn carriage rides are extremely popular in Seville, so you should have no trouble finding one for hire. Carriage stations are located at Seville Cathedral, the Maestranza bullring, the Plaza de America, and the Torre del Oro.

Tours last about an hour and range in price from €35 and €50.

Wander Barrio de Santa Cruz

antiguas calles de la judera de Sevilla y hoy llamado barrio de Santacruz

Seville’s most charming barrio (neighbourhood) is an enchanting labyrinth of medieval streets and alleys that is a delight to roam. The area is home to some of Seville’s most important tourist sites, such as Seville Cathedral (the world’s largest Gothic cathedral), its accompanying bell tower known as La Giralda, and the Hospital de los Venerables. But even if you choose to leave those attractions for another visit, you’re sure to be taken with the winding streets and the surprises around every corner. Pick a street to stroll, and prepare to be delighted by quiet squares lined with orange trees, lush gardens, and intimate cafes.

Row Your Boat

What could be more romantic that rowing your beloved on a quiet pond in a boat built for two? At the northern end of Seville’s Maria Luisa Park, you’ll find an enormous Moorish Revival building and square – the Plaza de España. A large moat dominates the space, with rowboats available for rent near the South Tower. As you glide gently through the moat, take in the imposing architecture, exquisite tile work, strolling Sevillians – and of course, your sweetheart’s eyes…

See a Flamenco Show

The rich music and dance tradition known as flamenco has its origins in this region of Spain. Flamenco shows abound in Seville, held in venues known as tablaos. What with the dramatic moves, swirling skirts, and lively music, you’ll be captivated by the crackling energy that imbues this traditional art form.

Many flamenco shows include a drink and dinner in the ticket price.

Hit the Spa

To relax and recharge with the one you love, visit the Aire de Sevilla for a day of pampering. This luxury spa offers everything from steam baths to chocolate massages to wine baths (yes, really). The spa has plenty of couple’s packages available, so you can soak up romantic atmosphere together.
